What makes our program unique?2017-07-25T22:38:55+00:00

We take an individualized medical approach to weight loss, with an emphasis on improving health as well as weight loss. In addition to medical supervision, we empower patients with the knowledge and skills to proactively manage their own health for life.

What is the average weight loss?2017-07-25T22:53:10+00:00

Our patients lose 6% of their weight on average, and maintain that weight loss 1+ years later. Every patient has a unique health profile and weight loss goals, and therefore there is not a one size fits all ‘pounds of weight loss’.

How much does the program cost?2017-07-25T22:53:52+00:00

Costs vary depending on the weight loss path chosen, the desired goal, the medical diagnoses, and your insurance coverage. We’ll work together to determine your individual program costs and set a financial plan for success. It is important that you are aware of your health insurance policy’s coverage if you plan to bill the medical visits to insurance.

What will I be eating?2017-07-25T22:48:36+00:00

We suggest making the lifestyle change using mainly real foods to make it as sustainable as possible. That being said, we do have meal replacements available if that is the best option for you. You can expect a focus on decreasing carbohydrate intake and increasing protein intake. We provide guidance on meal planning and preparation so that you can adapt and implement the lifestyle change that best suits your health and household needs.

Will I have to exercise to lose weight?2017-07-25T22:49:19+00:00

Exercise is not a required component of our approach, but we do encourage activity, such as Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (Read More).

How many calories are recommended for me to eat?2017-08-03T18:31:02+00:00

The individual calorie recommendations for each patient are calculated by a Body Composition Analysis performed at your first office visit. From the BCA, we are able to personalize a calorie reduction plan that will support weight loss.

Are appetite suppressants or others prescription medications mandatory?2017-07-25T22:34:13+00:00

No, nothing about our program is mandatory, including medications. The appetite suppressants we prescribe help to curb hunger and cravings, but, if you do not take the medication, you can still be equally as successful.

Are there any requirements to participate in the program?2017-07-25T22:33:43+00:00

There are no requirements to join Oregon Medical Weight Loss. Any motivated patient is welcome.

Can I participate in the program if I have medical conditions, like, diabetes, hypertension or reflux?2017-07-25T22:33:17+00:00

Yes, this is one of the main reasons for enrolling in a medically supervised program. Obesity and being overweight can be significant factors to a variety of medical conditions, as well as vice-a-versa – medical conditions and medications can contribute to weight challenges. We have the expertise and experience to ensure that your weight loss process is done safely. Many of our patients with medical conditions like these improve their lab results (see results *Link to Data page*) and often require less medication to control their chronic conditions.

What happens if I do gain weight?2017-07-25T22:52:09+00:00

We will work with you until we find a solution together that progresses and sustains your weight loss and health gain goals.

Do you offer bariatric (weight loss) surgery?2017-08-04T18:09:40+00:00

We do not offer bariatric surgery at our practice. If you’re considering such a serious procedure, we invite you to first give medically-supervised weight loss a try. You’ll be subject to less expense, less dramatic lifestyle change, and less risk. The weight you can lose via our program usually matches or exceeds that which can be lost via surgical options, for a lot less money, and it’s sustainable.
